GREAT ART IS EMERGING IN JOHNSON COUNTY
Vibrant, Energetic Images Create New Avenues of Thought
Every month, Whole Foods Market at Metcalf and 91 st Street in Overland Park , shows artists' work in their café area. For the month of February they will be hosting an exhibit of stained glass and oil paintings by Vivian Nast Faulkner, a local artist who has been working in these media for over 30 years.
Vivian's work graces homes and institutions across the country from coast to coast and in Canada . She rarely exhibits. Her work creates vibrant and harmonic images that captivate the spirit. Vivian has created work for The Smithsonian Institute highlighting her expertise in color and historic period designs. The Missouri Botanical Gardens, in St. Louis , commissioned her to paint a series of watercolors depicting each season. Other clients include The South Street Seaport Museum in New York City and The Hospital for Joint Diseases, also in New York City . Locally, Vivian has designed custom windows with many homeowners, as well as for The Yoga Studio in Lenexa .
People are talking about how they connect to Vivian's imagery. “Vivian utilizes the line, shape and color of her stained glass work in the service of soulfulness; and beauty is but one result of such attention.” – Laura Li Imel, practicing artist for 25 years. “ Her work makes me think”, says Doron Neuburger, inventor, teacher and resident of Overland Park . “Art is to inspire and enchant. Vivian's work for both my home and our studio has done just that. The thousands who have seen her windows always want to know who created them. Vivian's vision and talents are a gift to our world.” – Suzette Scholtes, Director, The Yoga Studio.
Vivian presents a “Yart Show” every year at her home in Overland Park , drawing local fine artists to an informal setting.
